Operation of the Dual Dwi Railway Track Triggers Unrest, Ministry of Transportation Apologizes

Director General of Railways Zulfikri said that SO activities and the operation of DDT in the Jatinegara-Cakung segment for 9.5 km were carried out after going through a socialization process 1 month before the event was finally carried out.
Meanwhile, DDT of the Jatinegara-Cakung segment is part of the construction of the double-track crossing of Manggarai-Cikarang along 35 km.
"The operation of DDT in the Jatinegara segment — Cakung is something new. "During the transition period that has been carried out there has been an impact on the community using the train service, we apologize and ask for the patience of the people so that the operation of DDT can provide benefits," Zulfikri said on Sunday (4/14/2019).
He explained that the SO activity process was held at 00.30 WIB, Friday (12/4). This activity is carried out at the time window or when the track is empty or before the KRL operation at 4:00 WIB begins again.
The selection of activities at the window time is intended to reduce the impact on the overall operation of the train. During the time window, SO's work also had to consider the operation of long-distance trains coming from the east to Jakarta.
This resulted in a very limited effective time for SO implementation. Meanwhile, the workforce involved in this SO activity was 270 people working at dawn.
The use of heavy equipment, he continued, which is commonly used to help SO solutions is not possible because conditions in the field do not allow heavy equipment placement. Practically, the implementation of SO in the Jatinegara segment relies on the power of hundreds of workers who have carried out various preparations since 20.00 WIB.
On existing double lanes, both commuterline (KRL) and long distance trains and local trains still use the line simultaneously. With the operation of the double track, KRL uses the existing double track while the long distance train and local train use the new double track.
At 04.45 WIB, Friday (12/4) Taksaka train was the first long-distance train to pass the new double track, followed by other long-distance trains.
This is a new history in the railroad, especially in Jabodetabek, because after waiting for almost 17 years, finally the dual route can operate, even though it is still in the Jatinegara-Cakung DDT segment.
It and its related stakeholders will continue to carry out monitoring related to the process of decomposing train travel which has increased post-SO travel time.
Various complaints and input submitted by the community, became an improvement for the government to complete the remaining double track along the 25.5 km.
The construction and operation of DDT aims to increase the capacity of train travel, reduce the continuation of train travel and especially to improve the safety of train travel.
The government also continues to ask for support from the community, so that the DDT settlement across Manggarai - Cikarang, which continues to be carried out by the government, can be realized soon.
In addition, in supporting DDT's operations, the government in collaboration with the DKI Provincial Government and other relevant agencies, will carry out the closure of several level crossings.
"To the public using road-based vehicles, it is expected to be able to use other road alternatives such as flyovers or underpasses that have been provided by the government," he said.
