MRT Jakarta: Station & Depo in Lebak Bulus

29 Agustus 2018

IF we climb a few stairs and look to the left, we will be shown with 3 MRT circuits parked in the lane. Safety nets are still visible, cables are hanging here and there, and visible surrounding walls are still attached with danger warning signs. Escalators that have not been installed perfectly are covered with large tarps.

Entering the MRT station and depot area, we are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) like workers in the form of helmets, vests and boots. This is to prevent bad possibilities that can occur, considering the station has not yet been fully formed. When visiting on Tuesday (08/28/2018), we were directed by a safety team wearing red shirts.

One of the officers gave several warnings about things that should not be done while at the station. "No one is allowed to break into the MRT, later standing in a place that has been restricted. All must go through the leadership authority," said an officer.

Up the next floor, we were greeted by a series of MRT trains being tested by SAT (acceptance testing signals) or signaling trials.

"The train will go first to the south, then change lanes to the right lane. Later we will see together, "said PT MRT Jakarta President Director William P Sabandar during the review. The barrier between the platform to the MRT is only fenced in with a long ribbon with black and yellow stripes. Visitors are prohibited from crossing the line. On the platform, an automatic door becomes a platform barrier by train.

"If the station is underground, the automatic door reaches the top," said Director of Operations and Maintenance of PT MRT Jakarta Agung Wicaksono. The glass doors will only open when the train is in the right position. Agung said that the position was not right between the carriage door and the automatic door, the door would not open.

"This is a system that guarantees security for users," said Agung.

Large posters about safety work are displayed there. Near the stairs to enter the station is also displayed an appeal for workers to use complete security while working.

William said that the physical construction of the MRT station and depot had reached 95.97 percent. Construction of the elevated station has reached 94.42 percent, while the construction of the underground station has reached 97.53 percent.

"Construction of construction or physical phase one has now reached 95.97 percent. For the system we are still fixing it," he said.

The Lebak Bulus Depot is also equipped with an automatic train washing machine and locomotive shunting which functions to push and pull the train when it runs in the depot area.

Other privileges, this station is directly integrated with the busway lebak bulus stop right below it. For the time being, the MRT is still testing the feasibility of the system that has been built. The Jakarta MRT is targeted to operate in March 2019.
