Ministry of Transportation offers investment in eight railway projects

20 Maret 2019

Jakarta - Directorate General (DItjen) of the Ministry of Transportation offers eight railway infrastructure development projects to state-owned and private companies both domestic and foreign. This was revealed by the Head of the Traffic Sub Directorate of the Directorate General of Railways of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, Yudi Karyanto in his remarks at the Indonesia Railway Conference held at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran on Wednesday (03/20/2019). This investment is very necessary considering that the APBN and private portion currently has a ratio of 36 and 64 percent. "All foreign investors may also be allowed because our law allows for this, with the concession scheme. For example, the Makassar-Pare-Pare route is foreign, but there must still be cooperation with the local," Yudi said. The eight projects offered are increased train capacity for Lahat-Tarahan coal, Makassar – Maros – Sungguminasa – Takalar (Maminasata) urban trains, Medan – Binjai – Deli Serdang (Mebidang) urban trains, and the development of the Tanjung – Banjarmasin railroad network. On the island of Java itself there is a construction project for the Kertajati Airport Railroad, Bandung Urban Railroad City Railroad, Cibubur-Bogor LRT, and an increase in the Cibungur – Tanjungrasa shortcut line capacity. He further added that the funds needed for the construction of the Cibubur-Bogor LRT line were 5.17 trillion rupiah, Lahat-Tarahan as much as 107 trillion rupiahs, Tanjung-Banjarmasin 16 trillion rupiahs, Maminasata Rp. 12 trillion rupiah, and LRT of 1.5 billion US dollars. "For this reason, we invite investors who have big money to invest in the Government and Business Entity (PPP) or Government and Private Partnership (KPS) scheme," he said. The hope, if these projects are realized, is expected to increase the capacity of the train, thereby reducing congestion on the highway. (Editor)
